This antique Ninghxia rug was woven during the early 20th century in central China.
This charming rug is composed of a central medallion featuring a dragon or foo dog surrounded by butterflies, trees and pagodas at the corners. The border contains various traditional symbols including the wheel of law, which represents truth, majesty, order and dignity. Other identifiable symbols are the flute, the sword and the artemisia leaf.
The main color palette is primarily composed of shades of blue with earthy yellows, reds, browns and white providing contrast and pops of color.
In very good condition. Pile is low with a soft handle.
