This Khamseh rug was handwoven during the early 20th century. 

It features a well-balanced central design on a brick field of larger serrated leaves intermixed with other tiny shapes that are predominately rosettes. Floral forms can be found growing along the central axis and a stray animal charmingly appears near the bottom left. Four indigo ground cornices are filled with striped botehs and are connected on the left and right by sawtooth bridges. Framed by multiple narrow borders of abstracted and sharply scrolling flowering vines. Woven on a natural brown hand-spun wool warp and finished with brick and indigo candy cane selvedge.

In good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age particularly around the central medallion and corner. Low pile, with silky wool and a hefty handle.
